SERVICE TO THE ALPACA INDUSTRY

I feel strongly that the more alpaca breeders give back to the industry in whatever capacity they can or choose, the better it is for the entire industry, both short-term and long-term.

I formerly served (2006-08) on the Board of Directors of the AFCNA (Alpaca Fiber Cooperative of North America), as Suri Liaison to the Suri Network. More recently (2008, 2009), I served on the Board of Directors of STAR (State of Texas Alpaca Ranchers). I am a Charter Member of the AOBA Youth Association Committee (AOBA is the Alpaca Owners and Breeders Association—a national education and advertising organization).

I have made wonderful friends by simply volunteering at shows, visiting other farms and ranches, joining all the applicable affiliates, and this year, serving on the two boards. I very much enjoy the work and time spent contributing to the alpaca industry! — Jeannie Wells
